Household Hazardous Waste

The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program was a voluntary initiative. Municipalities and Indigenous communities that chose to participate were responsible for collecting materials and selecting a broker to deliver them to an approved processing facility.

This program has now officially transitioned to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) as a long-term solution for managing hazardous and special products (HSP). Learn more about HSP.
